Award-winning designer Juliet Sargeant was tasked with designing a new RHS garden in partnership with the iconic CBBC TV show Blue Peter.
Juliet’s fantastic design championed the very modern-day topic of soil’s central role in supporting life and its potential to lock-in carbon. Aimed at engaging children and adults to discover the importance of soil in their own back gardens, balconies, or communities, the garden explained why we need to protect it and how. Supported by Project Giving Back, The New Blue Peter Garden: Discover Soil previewed as a Main Avenue show garden at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2022, before being relocated to its permanent home at RHS Garden Bridgewater for public access.
Emma Mason PR worked with Juliet, the RHS and BBC to promote the garden at RHS Chelsea Flower Show, pre-briefing media in the months before the event, and then organising a photocall on press day with 11 current and former Blue Peter presenters. Coverage was widespread including full feature interviews in Elle Decoration, Platinum and Bloom with Juliet, a spread in the Daily Mail on the Blue Peter presenters’ garden reunion, previews in The English Garden, Sunday Times, Daily Telegraph, The Times, Gardens Illustrated, Good Housekeeping, Yahoo! and Country Living, plus lots of broadcast interviews – and of course, a TV reveal on Blue Peter.
