A Yorkshire gem, Newby Hall boasts 40 acres of magnificent gardens and woodland which are visited by around 140,000 people every year and often feature on film and TV. Newby’s in-house team were keen for the gardens to have a higher press profile and so approached Emma Mason PR to give it a helping hand.
Newby’s ‘Year of the Border’ was created to highlight its gorgeous double herbaceous border, one of the longest in the country, plus head gardener planting tips were issued on how to achieve a similar look in your own back garden.
Newby Hall is lucky to house pieces of Thomas Chippendale furniture and, to coincide with the 300th anniversary of his birth, an oversized replica chair was made and placed in the garden as a selfie-spot for visitors – a picture story picked up by The Times and The Telegraph.
In November 2019, Newby was crowned the nation’s favourite country house garden after scooping nearly a third of the votes in the first ever public online poll for the Historic Houses Garden of the Year. Coverage was generated in titles such as Homes & Gardens, Town and Country and The English Garden.
